Adolescent Gate (AGO) is ready to scale impact.
Investment Rationale
Adolescents—particularly girls, young mothers, and adolescents with disabilities—are often excluded from decision-making processes that shape the policies, services, and social norms affecting their lives. This exclusion limits accountability, weakens program sustainability, and reinforces cycles of marginalization. Yet when adolescents are meaningfully engaged as leaders and advocates, they drive more responsive systems, stronger communities, and lasting social change.
Investing in adolescent leadership is a high-impact strategy for sustainability. Youth-led initiatives foster agency, civic responsibility, and democratic participation while ensuring that programs and policies reflect lived realities.
AGO’s Approach
AGO creates inclusive, safe, and structured pathways for adolescents to lead, advocate, and influence change at community and systems levels.
Inclusive Youth Leadership Councils
AGO establishes youth leadership councils that intentionally include girls, adolescents with disabilities, and young mothers. Councils are supported to participate in program design, monitoring, and community dialogue, ensuring adolescent voices directly inform decisions and accountability mechanisms.
Advocacy and Public Speaking Training
We equip adolescents with practical skills in advocacy, public speaking, negotiation, and rights awareness. Training strengthens confidence and enables young leaders to engage effectively with community leaders, service providers, and policymakers on issues such as education, SRHR, disability inclusion, and gender equality.
Adolescent-Led Community Initiatives
AGO supports adolescents to design and implement community initiatives that address locally identified challenges. Through mentorship, small grants, and technical support, young people lead awareness campaigns, peer education, and social change activities—building leadership experience and tangible community impact.
